Snacks That are Known Abroad

Snacks That are Known Abroad - Besides being famous for its exotic destinations on various islands, Indonesia is also famous for its traditional food. So, this time we will discuss traditional snacks or cakes, which are always a favorite of many people. In fact, these traditional cakes are worldwide. What are they?

1. Klepon

This round green cake with a sprinkling of grated coconut in it is unique from other local cakes. This is one of my favorite cakes because you have to be careful when you eat it. It could be, you are spitting brown sugar everywhere. Yes, this klepon cake contains liquid brown sugar, which as soon as you bite the sugar "melts" in your mouth.

2. Lapis Legit

According to my parents' beliefs, this lapis legit cake represents sustenance. No wonder that every Chinese New Year, this cake is always available in this celebration. Legit itself in Javanese means sweet. This legit cake is made from the basic ingredients of flour, egg yolk, sugar, and butter or margarine.

3. Putu Mayang

Every time I go to the market, I always look for this one cake. A traditional cake known for its light color and curly shape, made from red sweet potatoes. Usually sprinkled with coconut milk, coconut sugar or grated coconut.

4. Getuk

If you travel to Central Java, you will definitely find this traditional cake. Getuk cake is made from cassava base, which has a savory and sweet taste with a sprinkling of coconut on top. More delicious if you eat it with warm bitter tea.

5. Bika Ambon

The name is indeed Ambon, but this cake doesn't come from Ambon, but from Medan. This cake was first produced and popular at the intersection of Jalan Ambon-Sei Kera, Medan. So, this cake is known as bika Ambon. This Ambon bika cake is made from sago flour. The color is yellow with a slightly chewy texture, making you not quite enjoy just a piece.
